How do I eat healthy with diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and now CKD?

I am now being threatened with being on the machine, I found out that I only have one large kidney on the left side and nothing on the right side, and I am vitamin D deficient. I am on 50,000 units once a week, iron and vitamin C. I am not sick at all, just tired due to lack of energy. The kidney doctor is testing me every month.

I would definitely recommend that you ask your doctor to refer you to see a registered dietitian who will be able to assist you with planning a healthy diet appropriate for your medical conditions and level of kidney failure. This website and DaVita.com contain a wealth of information that may be useful in guiding you along.

Your doctor will most likely recheck your vitamin D level after you are finished with your course of vitamin D supplements. Keep up with your appointments and routine blood work with your doctor. Good luck to you.
